Radiocarbon Dating for Geoscience & Archaeology Applications
High-Precision Carbon-14 Dating with AMS Technology
Understanding the age of organic material is vital for accurate interpretations in archaeology, geology, hydrology, and environmental research. Radiocarbon dating (Carbon-14 analysis) plays a critical role in these fields, providing a reliable method for establishing chronological frameworks.
At SGS Beta, we specialize in high-precision radiocarbon dating using Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS). Our ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory in Miami, Florida, offers expert analysis of a wide range of materials, with fast turnaround times and responsive support for researchers worldwide.
Ensure your results are accurate and defensible. Contact us for a quote or to discuss your project with our radiocarbon specialists.
Commonly Analyzed Materials
We routinely analyze a broad spectrum of organic and carbonate materials, including:
- Bones and teeth
- Charcoal, seeds, and other plant remains
- Wood samples
- Shells and other carbonates
- Organic-rich sediments
- Dissolved inorganic carbon in water

Materials Not Accepted
SGS Beta is a natural isotope laboratory and does not accept samples containing tracer Carbon-14 or artificial isotopes. Additionally, we do not analyze:
- Ambergris
- Items submitted for personal curiosity (e.g., coins, old house wood)
- Manuscripts, artworks, or antiquities from private individuals, collectors, or auction houses
